Fr om a distance, it’s beautiful. An unearthly shaft of blue light shoots from the core of the V.I. Lenin Nuclear Plant in Pripyat, Ukraine and into the heavens. People from the surrounding neighborhoods, awakened by the sound and shake of an explosion, leave their homes and gather to watch the glow. As radioactive ash falls on the crowds like snow, they watch the inferno and talk about what might have gone wrong at the local nuclear power plant. This is just one of the many harrowing scenes from Chernobyl, a new miniseries airing on HBO. Chernobyl is a horror story, one that borrows the tropes and themes of horror fiction to tell the story of a nuclear nightmare compounded by human arrogance and bureaucratic lies. Horror stories work because they tap into real and prescient fears of the audience, and nuclear power plants are a reality for billions of people. The HBO mini-series, Chernobyl, began this past weekend. It's a dark story of the multiple human errors—in execution and far more important, in judgement—that resulted in the greatest civilian nuclear disaster in human history. Some might think that Chernobyl is another Hollywood-generated anti-nuclear power film a la "China Syndrome," but the creator of the film, Craig Mazin, disagrees. He tweeted: “The lesson of Chernobyl isn’t that modern nuclear power is dangerous. Hmmm. "Lying, arrogance, and suppression of criticism." I can think of one group that has trafficked in those things over the past few years. Spare me the argument that crazies like Alex Jones are representative of the people who have been censored/banned. Ironically, the same group that traffics in "lying, arrogance, and suppression of criticism" is a collection of minor league communist wannabes who think that the state can and should control our lives and the narrative in all things. Just like the party apparatus that was in place during Chernobyl, the wannabes think the narrative trumps all. And just like the party apparatus that existed when Chernobyl happened, they are dangerous.|Game of Thrones may be over, but HBO’s top-reviewed show is still running. These scores are based of user reviews, which seem to skew towards HBO dramas and nature documentaries. If you’re worried that these numbers could be skewed by disappointed Game of Thrones fans trying to embarrass the show’s co-creators by boosting another HBO series, you can rest assured this isn’t some bizarre case of reverse review bombing. A quick look at the reviews reveal a real passion for both the show and the history it’s based on. It’s not a documentary, so not each and every detail is accurate, yet I would still call it authentic. The creators got the important stuff right… Both of my parents worked at Chernobyl plant, I grew up hearing stories and versions of what happened. I think this show is the best depiction of the Chernobyl disaster and the stories of its victims. This show is to remind all of us of the cost of lies. Plenty of other reviews cite personal experience, a parent or spouse who experienced Chernobyl and who’s story matches up with HBO’s show. Others simply note how powerful the miniseries is. “I’ll never love this show but I will forever have had my eyes opened by it,” writes stephenpdodds. Beyond the somewhat surprising news that a brand new HBO miniseries is dominating IMDb’s TV charts, there’s a few other interesting details here. HBO clearly dominates with four shows in the top 10. Aside from Breaking Bad, the rest of this list if all nature or space documentaries, which makes sense considering the incredible popularity Planet Earth and the many shows it inspired. Going a bit further down the list, you’ll find Rick and Morty in 12th, making it IMDb’s top-rated cartoon series. Chernobyl 6 Episode.
The episode marks a transition wh ere many parts of the government conspiracy become known with the alien blood, fetuses, and of course the Purity Control. Maybe one could argue that this is the start of the confusing stuff, but self-contained, the episode added a lot to the show, and gave us plenty of great stories later on. Sideshow freaks, underdeveloped fetus, and a general humorous tone to the episode. There was plenty of horror with the Fiji Mermaid, and yet the whole situation was funny. The weird combination made the episode lots of fun. The concept for this episode isn’t original as it has been done multiple times in various mediums; however, that does not mean the various incarnations of the concept are bad. The concept of timeloops itself allow for great creative freedom which usually ends up with a good episode. The X-Files did it very well with several ongoing gags such as the waterbed leaking. The idea behind the episode was so good that Fringe copied the concept, having someone be able to control the mind of others. What was unique about Modell was that he was able to affect human physiology. Chernobyl Episode 6 watch online.
